Used Chevrolet Colorado for sale in Lubbock: which years and trims to look at
A used Chevrolet Colorado in Lubbock is worth your time when you match the truck to your week: the lowest-priced trim for a daily drive, and a trailer-ready truck for weekend hauling. Look at the 2023 to 2025 model years, and check two things on any truck: which engine it has and whether it carries the Trailering Package.
Keep reading below, then schedule a test drive in Lubbock. Bringing your own numbers to the lot settles this faster than any spec sheet.
Which used Colorado years to look at: 2023, 2024 and 2025
The current Colorado generation started with the 2023 model year. What changes from year to year is the engine on the lower trims, and that decides what you can tow.
2023 Colorado. Chevrolet sold it as a Crew Cab in five trims: WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2. The WT and LT came standard with a 2.7L Turbo rated at 260 lb-ft of torque. The Trail Boss and Z71 came with the 2.7L Turbo Plus at 310 hp and 391 lb-ft. The ZR2 had the 2.7L Turbo High-Output at 310 hp and 430 lb-ft. A WT or LT could be ordered with the Turbo Plus. With the base engine, Chevrolet rates the truck to tow 3,500 lbs. A truck with the 310 hp engine and the Trailering Package is rated to 7,700 lbs, and the ZR2 to 6,000 lbs.
2024 Colorado. The 310 hp engine was renamed TurboMax, and on the Trail Boss and Z71 it now makes 430 lb-ft, up from 391. The WT and LT still came standard with the 2.7L Turbo. Chevrolet added the ZR2 Bison. Towing is unchanged: 3,500 lbs with the base engine, 7,700 lbs with TurboMax plus the Trailering Package and limited-slip differential, and 6,000 lbs for the ZR2.
2025 Colorado. Every trim got the 310 hp, 430 lb-ft TurboMax as standard, including the WT. Chevrolet’s 2025 lineup lists WT, Custom, LT, Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2, plus the ZR2 Bison. The towing rule is the same as before: 7,700 lbs needs the Trailering Package, a truck without it is rated at 3,500 lbs, and the ZR2 is rated at 6,000 lbs.
What that means on a Lubbock lot. If you want the 310 hp engine at the lowest price, a 2025 WT or Custom has it as standard. On a 2023 or 2024 WT or LT, the standard engine was the 2.7L Turbo, so check the engine on the window sticker or with the VIN. If you tow, check that the truck has the Trailering Package before you count on 7,700 lbs. Without it, plan on 3,500 lbs whatever the year.
A Lubbock daily drive points to the lowest-priced Colorado trim
If your week is work, school, and errands around Lubbock, buy the least expensive trim you can find in good shape. On a 2025 or 2026 truck, every trim has the 310 hp TurboMax, so a higher trim does not buy you a stronger engine; on a 2023 or 2024 WT or LT, expect the 2.7L Turbo. The 2026 sticker runs $32,400 to $50,700 across 6 trims, and the lowest is the WT. That is the manufacturer’s suggested price, never ours, but it shows how wide the gap is between the entry trim and the top.
Fuel use is the other daily-drive number. EPA certification puts the 2026 Colorado at 16 to 21 mpg combined on gasoline, which is a spread you feel at the pump if you commute every day. When you test drive a used Colorado in Lubbock, ask which configuration it is, because the mpg you live with depends on the version you buy.
For the Lubbock commuter, the question is condition and mileage. A clean entry-level truck with a documented service history beats a loaded one that has been neglected.
A Lubbock weekend trailer decides which used Colorado you can buy
If you tow, start with the trailer weight, then shop for the truck. The 2026 Colorado is rated to tow up to 7,700 lbs with the Trailering Package, and 6,000 lbs as a ZR2, per the manufacturer. On a 2023 to 2025 truck, Chevrolet rates one without the Trailering Package at 3,500 lbs, and that is the single biggest difference between one used Colorado and another for a Lubbock buyer with a boat, a camper, or a flatbed.
Write down the loaded weight of what you pull and leave margin under the rating. Then confirm that the used truck you are looking at has the equipment that rating assumes. A used Colorado that is a good price but short on towing equipment is the wrong truck for a trailer, however clean it looks.
If your trailer sits near 7,700 lbs or above, a Colorado is the wrong stop, and our Silverado lineup is where that conversation continues. For most Lubbock weekend trailers, though, the Colorado’s range covers the job.
What a Colorado costs across six trims, and where used buyers save
The sticker spread tells a Lubbock used buyer where the savings are. A new 2026 Colorado runs $32,400 to $50,700 across 6 trims, and a used truck is priced against that field. The WT sits at the bottom, and the upper trims sit far above it. A used buyer who skips the top-trim premium on a 2025 truck keeps the same 310 hp; on a 2023 or 2024 truck, the lower trims came with the base engine.
Our part is to put a price and terms on the exact truck in front of you. Use the table to decide which figures matter for your week.
| Figure (2026 model year) | Value | What it decides for a Lubbock buyer |
|---|---|---|
| MSRP across 6 trims | $32,400 to $50,700 | How much trim premium you are willing to pay |
| Lowest-priced trim | WT | The starting point for a daily-drive truck |
| Horsepower | 310 hp on every trim | On 2025 and 2026 trucks, price gaps buy something other than power |
| Maximum towing, properly equipped | 7,700 lbs with the Trailering Package, 6,000 lbs for the ZR2 | Whether your trailer fits before you shop trims |
| EPA combined mpg, gasoline | 16 to 21 | Your fuel bill depends on the version you buy |
| Basic warranty | 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first | Whether any factory coverage remains on the truck |
| Powertrain warranty | Typically 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first | Whether engine and drivetrain coverage remains |
Model year matters in Lubbock because factory warranty runs out with age and miles
The year you choose decides how much factory coverage is left. A 2026 Colorado carries a basic warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first, and a powertrain warranty of typically 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. A used Colorado that is a few years old with modest miles may still have powertrain coverage, while an older or high-mileage truck may not.
For a Lubbock buyer, that makes the year a money question. A newer truck costs more up front and leaves you more protection. An older truck costs less and leaves more of the risk with you, so the inspection matters more.
Do the math on the truck itself: take its in-service date and odometer reading, and compare them to those two limits. If you want the most coverage left, look first at the newest, lowest-mileage truck you can afford.
What we do for a Lubbock Colorado buyer
We sell new Chevrolet vehicles and used cars, trucks and SUVs at our South Loop store, and we keep the finance and service side under one roof. For a used Colorado, that means a few steps you can take before you visit.
We offer new Chevrolet financing, pre-owned car loans, and Chevrolet leases, and we take a finance application online. If you have a truck to trade, a year, make, and model lookup gives only a general estimate that may change, so treat it as a starting point and expect the number to be firmed up on the truck itself.
After the sale, our service department does oil changes, brakes, and tires, and we have GM Certified Service experts. Our Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection uses a color-coded form, so you can see what a truck needs today and what can wait.
Owners describe that experience in their own words. In a July 2026 Google review of Group 1 Chevrolet Hub City, Juan P. wrote: “Everyone at Gene Messer Chevrolet was great! Ehsan went above and beyond to get me into my new 2026 Colorado.”
Edgar R. reviewed us on Google in October 2026 after a service visit: “Great Experience! Went in for oil change service and was in and out in about an our or so! Great customer service from Josh, with constant updates from the technician and himself, definitely coming back for any future service!”
Also in October 2026, Stephen D. left a Google review of Group 1 Chevrolet Hub City about a parts-counter visit: “Even though I hadn’t purchased my 2018 Chevy Cruze Lt at Group 1 Chevrolet Hub City, the woman at the front desk took me to a gentleman in the parts department. I didn’t have the tool to take off the special lug nuts. He told me where I could possibly purchase the item, giving me clarity on that issue.”
Frequently asked questions
How does a used Colorado’s price compare with a new one?
A new 2026 Colorado starts at $32,400 for the WT and tops out at $50,700 across 6 trims, per the manufacturer. A used truck is priced individually, so you get the price and terms on the exact truck rather than a range.
Will a used Colorado still have factory warranty?
It depends on the truck’s age and miles. The 2026 basic warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first, and the powertrain warranty is typically 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Check the truck against both limits.
How much can a used Colorado tow?
A 2023 to 2025 Colorado with the 310 hp engine and the Trailering Package is rated at 7,700 lbs, a ZR2 at 6,000 lbs, and a truck without the Trailering Package at 3,500 lbs, per Chevrolet. Confirm the equipment on the exact truck before you hook up a trailer.
What mpg should I expect from a Colorado?
EPA certification puts the 2026 Colorado at 16 to 21 mpg combined on gasoline. The figure you get depends on the version you buy and how you drive in Lubbock.
Does a higher trim mean more horsepower?
On a 2025 or 2026 Colorado, no: every trim has the 310 hp TurboMax. On a 2023 or 2024 truck, yes: the WT and LT came standard with the 2.7L Turbo, while the Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2 had 310 hp.
Do you sell certified pre-owned Colorados?
We sell new Chevrolet vehicles and used cars, trucks and SUVs, and we inspect every pre-owned vehicle we sell. Ask which Colorados are on our lot today, and we will tell you what each one carries.
The right used Colorado in Lubbock is the entry trim for commuters and the trailer-ready truck for towers
If you drive around Lubbock and tow nothing, a clean WT or another lower-priced trim makes sense, and a 2025 WT gives you the same 310 hp as the top of the lineup for far less money. If you pull a trailer, shop the towing equipment first, because the Trailering Package is the difference between 3,500 lbs and 7,700 lbs. If warranty coverage is your priority, buy the newest, lowest-mileage truck you can afford.
